Bob had his first two wheeled bike aged 8, his parents not having a car it became his major means of transport. By the age of 15 he had a decent sports bike, used for commuting and youth hostelling. As a junior he rode time trials, massed start road races, and track racing.

Career took over aged 18, followed by marriage and family, Bob did no further sport until aged 40 when he decided to run a marathon, it took 3 years before he ran his first one. A few years later a group of running clubmates decided to go for cycle rides on Thursday evenings incorporating a pub stop or three. Bob found he could still outride and outsprint the younger riders, so rejoined a cycling club.

He quickly found the evening time trial series and after a short time started entering open events. Belatedly he discovered the Veteran Time Trial Association (VTTA) and constructs his seasons around their competitions.

In May 2015, Bob was honoured to be invited to join BorntoBike Racing Team and became a first claim member in June 2015.

Since joining BtB Bob has achieved Personal Best times at 10, 25, 30 and 50 miles and ridden his first 100 mile and 12 hour time trials.
