After spending a long time obese and incredibly unfit Libby decided a lifestyle change was needed, she initially joined a gym and after a while trained as a gym instructor. In 2010 she left the fitness industry and then in 2011 got a bike on the cycle to work scheme and decided that she really quite liked cycling. Her husband (John McLaren who is also on the BorntoBike team) suggested she try a time trial which she did. Her first race was 2 months after she got her first bike and she has been hooked ever since.
Libby loves the challenge of trying to get fitter and faster and having had a go at a few hundreds in 2015 is going back to focusing on the shorter races for 2016. She is really enjoying being part of a team of women who understand that it is perfectly normal to want to spend most of your free time on a bike (well it gets her away from the kids :-)) and your weekends hanging around in village halls with a bunch of people wearing lycra 🙂
