Clair started cycling in her 40’s primarily to lose weight. At the time she was part of the Great Britain Senior ladies (over 40’s) Dragonboat team and representing the county at European and world championships but wanted to gain selection for the Great Britain Premier women’s team (the fastest 20 women in the country irrespective of age). By including cycling in her training regime she lost weight, increased her aerobic fitness and was selected for the team, going on to medal at both European and World level. Before long though cycling took over and became her main sport.
Over the past few years she has completed many sportives but focuses on time trials. She started with an initial 46min 10 mile time trial back in 2009 and has worked to taking 2nd in her age group at the National Championships and representing Great Britain at the UCI amateur Championships in both France and Poland.
Now she is looking to increase the distances of her races and take on some 25 and 50 mile events.
Clair is married to Alan with 4 adult children and 4 grandchildren
